Obituary of Christal M Gilbert

Christal Gilbert was a caring mother, daughter, fiancé, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on May 19, 2021 at age 47. Christal was born in Rochester, NY to Elaine Brown and Walter Gilbert on June 13, 1973. She was a proud Rochester native who enjoyed spending much of her time in the Hudson and Joseph avenue neighborhood with loving family and friends. She attended Benjamin Franklin high school and later went on to study medical billing and coding at Everest Institute where she received her Associates degree in applied science. Christal was a passionate cook who also enjoyed teaching others how to cook. In her spare time Christal enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter Kimora, listening to music and taking long drives with her babygirl, Essence. Christal was known for filling her home with warmth and kindness. She was like a second mother to friends of her children. Anyone who knew Christal, knew that she was an authentic, passionate, thoughtful, encouraging and fearless woman. Christal was a fiercely dedicated mom to four beautiful children, Charles, Timothy, Essence and Eddie. She supported them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Christal was also a beloved fiancé to her partner Tynell who brought a lot of joy and love to her life. Christal truly loved her siblings and friends and she loved them hard. Even through the rough times, she always came full circle with the people she loved the most. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill. We mourn the loss of our beloved Christal and encourage any and all who knew her to remember the beauty she brought to this world. Christal was predeceased by her father Walter Gilbert and uncle Arthur McClinic. She leaves behind four children Charles, Timothy, Essence and Eddie; mother Elaine Brown; granddaughter Kimora; siblings Chris and Alphonso; fiance Tynell Tisdale; aunts Mattie and Kathy; uncles Robert, Terry and Fred. Christal will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
