Gwendolyn (Gwen) L. Watson entered her eternal rest on March 26, 2021, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. Gwendolyn was born May 3, 1957, in Rochester, NY to the late Willie J. and Marquette T. Watson. Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her daughters Maleka Watson and Deletha Watson-Bradley, and her sisters Gail Arnold and Minnie Davis. Gwen attended Immaculate Conception School and then Madison High School.
Gwen worked for health and human services as a healthcare assistant for the Center for Disability Rights and Centers for Disability Services. She also worked in the custodial engineer department in her earlier years at the Days Inn and Blue Cross Arena (formerly War Memorial Center).
A woman of strong faith, Gwen was a member of Holy Temple of Christ Church (Bishops James and Jennie Smiley). Gwen lived a life of caring and service to her community. Gwen was a mentor to young women, young mothers, and volunteered at the local program for children at the Wheatley Community Library.
Gwen had many interests including R&B and jazz music, singing, and dancing. Gwen had impeccable taste as evidenced in her love of fashion and interior decoration. She loved cooking, holiday baking, and she was truly the "Grilling Queen". But the HEARTBEAT OF HER LOVE was her grand and great-grandchildren. There no was mountain high enough or valley low enough to keep her from showing love and concern for her "babies".
Gwen touched many lives with her generosity, grace, humor, company, and unconditional love. Gwen leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Byron Watson, and Lamar Watson; Son-in-law Raymond Bradley; sisters; Delores Jackson, Jacqueline Watson, and Eunice (David) Gordon; brother- Gregory Berry.
