Nikki Renee "Tiny" Sims was born on November 25, 1953, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Mary Sullivan. Nikki entered into her final rest on Saturday, July 8, 2017, in Rochester, New York. She was 63.
Nikki is predeceased by her mother and siblings Mary Emily "Peaches" Coles and Rudy Lee "Jazz" Sheriod. Nikki is survived by her brother Gary (Cathy) Sims; daughters Jacqueline Sims, Ebony (Roy) Sims, Ashleigh (Courtney) Sims and Briana Sims; grandchildren Darren Lamont Davidson, Jr., Clayton S. Babers, Rashad J. McInnis Jr., E'mari McInnis, Diego DuBose and Roy C. Ruffin III; lifelong friend Brint Nelson Lyles; best friend Rainy Allison; sister-friends Julia Flagg, Delores (Will) Jacque, Vanette (Michael) Lovett-Webb, Debra Mason, Vera Tucker and Delphine Whisonant; special friends Helen Holloman and Kim McFadden; special nieces and nephews Yolonda, Michael and William Coles, Latoya Gross, Jerrod Pugh, Galen Sims and Brandon Walls; special cousin Walter Gibson; godchildren Yolonda Evans, Ken-Nijah Holloman and Keyana Switzer and countless other cherished relatives, friends and loved ones.
Nikki, an Army brat who was born on an Army Base, returned to Rochester, NY as a young child. She attended James Madison High School before transitioning to Manpower where she earned her General Equivalency Diploma and a Certificate in Business Management. Nikki held an array of jobs. She started her work career as a Mental Hygiene Therapy Aide for the Rochester Psychiatric Center and after many years and experiences, she retired as a Licensed In-home Daycare Provider.
Nikki dedicated her life to Christ at New Hope Fellowship under the leadership of Clarence Lewis, Sr. She often spoke often of God's goodness, grace and mercy. Nikki also led a very social retirement, enjoying time spent with her grandchildren, children and her many friends and loved ones. She was a true fashionista, an avid reader and was known for her love of the crime shows Blue Bloods and Law and Order.
Nikki was truly loved by all who were blessed to make her acquaintance. She was known and will forever be remembered as a dedicated and loyal friend, loving mother, teacher, counselor, and the best grandma ever. Nikki had an adventurous spirit, contagious personality, an incredible sense of humor and was available day or night to anyone who needed her. Lives were forever changed by knowing Nikki and her presence will truly be missed.
