Mattie Mae Hopper was born in Augusta, Georgia on April 9, 1946 to the union of Ralph Williams, and Mary Bell Williams. As a child she relocated to Rochester NY with her mother (Mary Bell Williams) and brother (James Williams). Mattie graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School. Mattie worked various jobs, for the state, a visiting nurse, and her most loved a daycare provider. At the age of twenty she gave birth to her first born who unfortunately passed away at birth. She later gave birth to her loving children Veronica, Benny, and Daniel. Mattie met and married her devoted husband, John B. Hopper on April 21, 1973. Mattie devoted her life to God; she first attended Bible way Church, and then spent her later years at Faith Temple Apostolic Church. While a member she participates in many church duties. She was an usher board president for many years. She introduces the healthy heart program to the congregation. She worked with community outreach program and breakfast club. Mattie then became a mother of the church. Mattie had many hobbies. She loved to travel to various states in the US with family and friends. She loved to witness to the community ministering the word of God. Her greatest hobby of all was shopping because her interest in fashion. We all know some of us picked up her way when it came towards fashion. She had a funny way of showing her love for everybody but she always meant well for instant she would always encourage us all to take care of our health, education and abide by God. Mattie is survived by her three children, Veronica Birmingham, Benny(Tina) Birmingham and Daniel(Melissa) Birmingham, all of Rochester, NY; Nieces Brandi W and Brittany W(Kevin) her children Kevin W Jr and Kelvin W.; Grandchildren Latoya S, Sierra B, Chablisse C, Shaquanda B, Jessica N, Emily B, Shaniqua B, Patrisha B, Benny G, Daniel B jr., Sharjanai T, Tyrin B, Tiana B, Tanyia B.; Great grandchildren Candice S, Mujahid M, Samaiyah M, Kareem M, Sahai C, Saniya C, Kenyah W, Felix S, Eden R.; God Children James, Lashonda, D'anjelo, Ayanna, Janet, Sandra, Staheen, Mamie. And a host of family & friends.
