Obituary of Larry Darnell Smith Jr

Larry "Black" Darnell Smith Jr, was born on January 7, 1977 in Syracuse, New York to Carolyn Thomas and Larry Darnell Smith, Sr. He went to meet his Lord on April 17, 2023. Darnell, as he was affectionately known to many, attended public schools and graduated from Henninger High School in 1995. Mr. Smith was naturally gifted artistically. After completing college Darnell enrolled in culinary courses and went on to pursue a career as a chef. He subsequently worked at Phoebe's restaurant in Syracuse, New York, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and various other dining establishments across Central New York. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather Reverend Smith, maternal grandparents John E. Thomas and Velma A.Thomas, and aunt Cheyenne Dawson. He leaves to mourn his memory 3 children: Lashay Smith, Carolyn Smith, and Jadien Dusky; his mother Carolyn Thomas, father Larry Darnell Smith Sr, sisters Tamara Thomas, Velma A. Hill (George), Lariana Perez (Rondo), and Kiana Smith; one brother, John E. Thomas Jr. (Bernadine) and one grandson, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
