Obituary of Shirley J McCullough
Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shirley Janet Mccullough was born on June 18th, 1960, the oldest of four to Walter
Mccullough and the late Neila Mae Mccullough in Rochester NY. She visited King St. South
Carolina frequently with her parents on summer vacations always speaking of good times with
her late grandmother Alice. She grew up on the west side on Hawley St. attending Madison
High School. Growing up, she also attended Frankin High School where she did not graduate
but did attend Continental School of Beauty where she learned that doing hair was something
she loved to do.
Franklin High School is where she met her long time significant other the late Robert Orr
in the year 1975. They settled down and had five kids. Cassandra, Latisha, Robert Jr., Randy and
Dominique. Shirley realized that her life was not complete and adopted a 6th child Nautika in
2000. Shirley worked numerous jobs, including doing hair for family and friends. Shirley
discovered that she would change her lifestyle and found she had a passion for taking care of
kids, so she provided daycare services for those in need of it. She always welcomed family and
friends into her home, in which you would always feel loved. She would give you the best
advice and the communication was always real. She would give you food, a place to stay and
money if need be. Shirley had a heart of gold and wore it proudly.
Shirley was preceded in death by her long time significant other Robert Orr, her mother
Neila Mae Mccullough and her sisters Glenda McDowell and Debra Robinson.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Cassandra Orr (Terrence Washington), Latisha
Putman (Kenneth Putman), Dominique Orr and Nautika Brown. Her sons Robert Jr. Orr (Dionne
Orr) of Jacksonville FL., and Randy Orr. Her father Walter Jr. Mccullough and sister Rosalind
Hunter (Bobby Hunter) all of Rochester NY. She is also survived by what brought her the most
