Obituary of Sadie Larkins

In the historical setting of Georgetown, South Carolina; a queen, Sadie Larkin was born to the proud parents of Mary Gamble and William Armstrong. She was educated in the Georgetown County School System later relocating Rochester, New York in 1952. She ventured away from her home looking for an enhanced and improved quality of life for her family. She was married to Mansfield Larkin Baby Face who proceeded her in death.
She started working for Monroe County from 1968 until she retired in 1990. She was a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist for more than fifty years under the leadership of the late Rev. Canty and the late Rev. Arthur Crittenden. a golden half century. She also worked on various ministries including the Willing Workers and Pastor's Aide Ministry.
She was a gracious and devoted wife and family was her major priority. She was a caring, kind, and compassionate person who served as one of the neighborhood mothers in the Scio Street neighborhood. Her extended family was enormous in size, and we called her "Momma". In the dawning of her life, her legacy will stand strong as she will be remembered her cooking and watching her soap operas.
All of her siblings proceeded her in death: Frank Armstrong, Henry Armstrong, Joe Armstrong, Silas Armstrong, Leon Armstrong, Elijah Armstrong, Marthenia McCants, Catherine Lawhorn and Mamie Britton. She was the baby girl of the siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories perpetuate her legacy: three sons; Deacon Ervin Vereen & Rayfield Larkin; five daughters; Twanda Malcom, Levi Rice (Georgetta), Sandra Larkin-Dennis (Morgan), Marie Harvey (predeceased), and Lorrie Larkin (predeceased); including a special friend, Rosa Herbert and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and church family.
